Gihachirō started as a commercial artist but later made creative woodblock prints as well. His son Gijin also made creative woodblock prints. More than ten of these prints included flowers or birds. Twelve of Gihachiro’s prints (1-12) and four of Gijin’s prints (13-16) are show below. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Both father and son accurately drew the shapes of objects included in a picture but typically chose to color them only in shades of gray.
